Stress Free Discipline

Helping your child make the right choices

Mary Chapman is the facilitator of this workshop and will walk you through many easy steps on the road to stress free discipline.

The topics will include: 4 Steps to winning cooperation, 10 ways to nurture your child, 10 steps to teach a child discipline, 10 steps to positive parenting, 18 ways to say “NO” positively, 4 Rs of Recovery, Natural and Logical Consequences, the difference between punishment and discipline, the difference between praise and encouragement, how your role as a parent changes as your children grow older, the importance of being flexible, respect is a 2-way street, Act vs. React – Famous last words , positive discipline guidelines, the rights of parents and children, what is effective parenting?, it is never too late to parent your children in a positive way.

Mary Chapman began working in early childhood education as a teacher’s aide in 1972.

She graduated from Argubright Business College in 1971, attended Kellogg Community College in the early childhood program and general coursework.  Graduated from Spring Arbor University with a BA in Family Life Education.

Mary has been employed by Child Care Resources – Southwest Regional 4C as a Resource/Referral Specialist for 10 years.  Working now as an independent contractor as a Community Child Care Specialist for Child Care Resources and the Great Start Regional Resource Center -  training Relative and Day Care Aides and Licensed and Registered Child Care Providers. Mary is also the Parent Education Facilitator with Barry County Community Mental Health.

She is sharing office space at the Family Resource Center at 520 S. Church Street in Hastings with Child Abuse Prevention Council and CASA.

The public is invited to attend and the dinner is free with registration, from 5:30-6pm and the presentation is from 6-7:30pm with child care activities that coincide with what the parents are learning. The dates and locations are March 1st  at Fuller Street Elementary School, Nashville; March 8th  at Delton Elementary School, March 15th  at 1st Baptist Church, Middleville; and March 22nd  1st Baptist Church, Hastings.
